The SEC Basketball Tournament is played at the conclusion of the SEC basketball regular season pitting the teams, seeded from top to bottom in both the East and West Divisions of the SEC, against each other with the winner of the SEC Tournament Championship Game receiving an automatic NCAA Tournament berth.

While the 2011 SEC Basketball Tournament was played at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, the 2012 SEC Tournament will be played at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.
